National Health Center Facts
In 2010, health centers served as the health care home for more than 19 million people and are recognized
as an invaluable part of the nation’s health delivery system.
Access
- In 2010, over 7 million uninsured patients received care at community healh centers (38%).
- Over 7 million Medicaid patients received care at community healh centers (38%).
- Nearly 2.7 million patientswith private insurance received care at community healh centers (14%).
- 4.7 million patients best served in a language other than English (24%).
- CHCs are located in areas where care is needed but scarce, and improve access to
care for millions of Americans regardless of their insurance status or ability to
pay.
In 2010, Community Health Centers also:
- Cared for 17 million patients received medical services.
- Cared for nearly 3.8 million patients who received dental services.
- Cared for 850,000 who received mental health services.
- Cared for 290,000 who received vision services.
